Lost in the Storm

Scary. Dark. Cinematic. A late elementary piece with optional duet part for the teacher.

Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!
You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout
Till you have drench’d our steeples.
– Shakespeare

Lost in the storm provides a classic dark cinematic background. Deep percussion, string ostinatos, even the sound of a thunderstorm. Some evocative synthesizers add the finishing touch.

The piano part uses only quarter notes and longer, making it easy for beginning students to count the rhythms. The left hand uses fifths which expand to sixths here and there.
